Building Alchemy AI: Lessons from Crafting a Solo Content Tool
- •Focus on solving one specific workflow pain point cleanly.
- •Keeping user inputs centered prevents generic AI responses.
- •Iterate quickly based on direct user feedback and real usage metrics.
Building Alchemy AI has been a rewarding solo project. I wanted a clean tool that did one thing really well: taking a piece of draft writing and producing crisp, well-formatted social media variations without fuss or bloated settings.
1. Keeping the Interface Distraction-Free
Many AI tools clutter their dashboards with dozens of complex knobs and obscure settings. With Alchemy AI, I prioritized a simple split layout: source content on the left, instant transmuted outputs on the right.
2. Listening to User Feedback
Features like 'Inline Refinement' (tweaking a single card output without re-generating everything) came directly from early feedback. Building in public and keeping the feature set focused allows the tool to remain fast and useful.
